Food Security and Livelihoods Assessment

Food Security and Livelihoods Assessment

In August 2014, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Ministry of Agriculture, in partnership with the REACH Initiative, conducted a national-level assessment on the food security and livelihoods situation of Lebanese host communities. This assessment aimed at providing both humanitarian and development actors with baseline food security and livelihood information to help inform future interventions targeting Lebanese communities – often hosting Syrian refugees. It also aimed at better understanding the impact of short and medium term interventions that have taken place in the past or remain on-going. The assessment collected both quantitative and qualitative data covering a macro- and meso-level review of secondary information covering all available information on food security domains of avail- ability, accessibility, stability and utilization, an integrated household survey complimented by key informant interviews and focus group discussions to assist in identifing opportunities for agricultural programming.
