Agricultural Stress Index in Jordan - December 2016

About this Project

As of December 2016 the ASI for Jordan showed some good vegetation growth in the northern Governorates of Irbid, Ajloun, Jerash and Al-Balqa, particularly in the second and third dekads of the month. Planting of winter crops such as wheat and barley concluded in November 2016 and the harvest period is expected from May-June 2017. It should be noted that Jordan’s cereal production is meager due to the country’s climatic and geographical conditions. Field crops such as cereal and beans occupy less than half of the total cultivated land of the country, while the rest is planted under vegetables and perennials.

Please note that since the ASI is based on remotely sensed data only, there is no confirmation on what crops have been planted.
